Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of nickel mining exploitation on the socio-economic conditions of the people of Central Weda District and analyze the socio-economic implications of nickel mining exploitation in Central Weda District.

This study uses a qualitative approach and a quantitative approach with the data collection process through observation, documentation and questionnaire surveys where the sample is drawn using the proportional sampling method and simple random sampling. The data obtained were then analyzed using statistical correlation test analysis and descriptive analysis. From the results of the correlation and descriptive statistical test analysis that has been carried out by the researchers, it can be concluded that there are three variables that have a significant influence, namely the first from the income sector which has a significant influence on people's incomes, meaning that the influence of mining on income has a very strong relationship, the second there is a significant influence of mining on public expenditure, meaning that the influence of mining on community expenditure is very strong, and thirdly, there is the influence of mining on the number of educational facilities, meaning that the influence of mining on the number of educational facilities has a very strong relationship. Furthermore, there is no effect of mining on the number of health facilities.
