Penerapan Arsitektur Vernakuler Kontemporer Pada Redesain Pasar Tradisional Alok Di Kabupaten Sikka

Abstract

Alok Traditional Market is one of the trading centers located in Uneng City Village, Alok District, Sikka Regency. Based on the Spatial Structure Function Plan for the Sikka Regency from 2012 to 2023, the Alok sub-district is in the Trade Zone. Alok Traditional Market has a very strategic role in efforts to improve the economy. In addition, the existence of traditional markets is evidence of civilization that is still maintained and preserved with very inherent historical and cultural values. The current condition of the Alok Traditional Market is concerning in terms of cleanliness and the low level of comfort, as well as the lack of facilities and infrastructure that are no longer feasible. However, the public's interest in shopping at this market has not diminished even though the development of a modern market in Sikka Regency is currently growing rapidly. Cheap and competitive prices of goods offered within the scope of traditional markets are the choice of shopping solutions for some people. Due to the existence of the Alok Traditional Market which is very important in the economic development of the city, it is necessary to redesign. The redesign of the Alok traditional market applying the concept of Contemporary Vernacular Architecture is expected to be able to overcome the problems that become the object and can raise the market image back into an icon or characteristic of the Alok Traditional Market, as well as provide economic progress in Sikka Regency.
